VLC Video Club--TEACHERS NEEDED
February 16, 2012
The Virtual Learning Community (VLC) is a three-year National Science Foundation research project. As part of this research project we are in search of ten teachers who would be interested in participating in a five session online video club. This video club will be facilitated by members of the Everyday Mathematics author group and will meet on February 29, March 21, April 25, May 23, and June 15. Each meeting will run from 4:30-6:00 pm (CST). Interested teachers must commit to participating in all five sessions. During each session we will use video to explore issues in teaching practice. In addition to the five sessions, you may also be asked to complete a 5-10 minute questionnaire. Upon completion of the five sessions a certificate of participation will be issued. The University of Chicago’s Center for Elementary Mathematics and Science Education (CEMSE) is an educational R&D center and the institutional home for Everyday Mathematics, the elementary curriculum from the University of Chicago School Mathematics Project. As part of its ongoing mission, CEMSE seeks to make a positive difference for mathematics and science instruction throughout the nation.
CEMSE is currently seeking to fill a variety of positions, including Teacher In Residence, Curriculum Developer, Early Childhood Mathematics Educator, Elementary Mathematics Educator, Implementation Specialist, Editor, and Silverlight Programmer. Individuals hired to fill these positions will participate in ongoing revisions to Everyday Mathematics and other work of the Center.
